Following the opening of The Papatuanuku Series we spoke to Tessa Williams from Moemoea Collective about the idea behind the work, and the launch itself. "Man, it really was just the most incredible evening! The atmosphere was on fire, with everyone who attended blown away, not only by the photos but the launch itself. I knew that the majority of the 150 who attended had never had the pleasure of going to an art launch, so I did everything I could to ensure they had the same experience as a regular gallery-goer, in the hopes to start them on their own art journey." "Young working families are usually To View More >>

Following on from  'Tribe', an exhibition by Tania Niwa (sponsored by Queensberry) in 2017, this album was made for a family who had suffered a tragedy. Tania and Mary Raukawa Newton share how these photographs connect families and cultures. "These fine art images are from a family portrait commission I have been working on," Tania says. "They feature in a custom-made leather album for widower Mary Raukawa Newton and her little boy Leighton. "Mary lost her fiancé Alekh when Leighton was a few weeks old. Her fiancé was of Nepalese heritage. To View More >>

It’s so refreshing to meet people who act as if the only thing coming between them and their dreams is a plan. Dmitry and Victoria Fedotov built a photography business serving some of the world’s wealthiest people by being clear about their goals and plans, by going the extra mile for their clients … and by shutting out the voices inside that say it can’t be done. Read on for the short story, or click here to listen to my conversation with Dimitry. Download Dmitry’s free Wedding Photography Guide. So you're tempted by our special offer, and you've decided to add Q-Frames, Q-Boxes and Q-Books to your Workspace shopping cart. Maybe it's your first time selling online! How much should you charge? Finding the sweet spot between too cheap and too expensive can be tricky. Ask yourself: 1. What costs must the price cover? For example will you need to edit or artwork the images? If so was the work included in the price of the shoot or do you need to charge for it now? 2. What's the market price? How much would people in your market expect to pay for products like these from a photographer like To View More >>

If you're flying in to shoot a wedding and the weather's so foul the plane mightn't be able to land, you have every wedding photographer's nightmare. And to say the weather was foul would be an understatement... But the plane did land and Johannes (of Moda Fotografica) had already covered the other bases before heading out to shoot Vicky and Ricky's wedding at French Farm in the South Island of New Zealand. With heavy rain forecast and weather warnings in place, Johannes discussed with the couple what would happen if the weather didn't play nice. He walked them through how it might effect what To View More >>

Last year we introduced The Queensberry Press, our first toe-dip into the brave new world of digital offset-printing. Everyone, from our designers to our developers immediately started working hard on v2.0 - starting with a hard look at what you had to say about the first release! So here's what's in The Queensberry Press v2.0. It starts with a really good introductory deal. Order any Queensberry Press book before Friday 20th May 2011 and you'll pay half price. Our discount on all "value packages" also increases from the normal 40% to 50% for the same period (as listed in Photojunction). We've To View More >>

The other day I proposed a way to encourage enquirers to look past your prices and make personal contact. It was partly a way to start identifying people who should be your clients, and withdrawing (politely) from those who probably shouldn't. You need to demonstrate to the first group why you’re the right photographer to spend their wedding day with! The 3% rule The 3% rule is our way of saying that you can't succeed by trying to appeal to everyone, and you definitely shouldn't try. It stems from the time, years ago, when we tried to estimate the number of professional photographers in the To View More >>

Ian spotted a post by New Zealand photographer Isaac de Reus of Perspectives Photography on DWF recently. It was in reply to a thread discussing whether giving your work away free for referrals was good business practice. Isaac shared this great example of how he's leveraged something he can do in return for good quality referrals. The type everyone wants. High-end. It also shows the value of keeping your finger on the wider wedding market's pulse. Thanks for sharing, Isaac - Nigel A month or so ago we approached a very high-end, exclusive venue that only recently started booking and advertising To View More >>

When I realized that this album was for singer Katie Melua, I got a wee bit excited because she is actually one of my favourite artists - cool, jazzy and ever so sweet! Jo de Banzie has worked with Katie for over 8 years, touring with her, shooting for album covers, PR and video stills. Jo says that she has a huge soft spot for Katie so was delighted to be asked to photograph her wedding to ex world Superbike champion James Toseland. "They picked a glorious venue, the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew, London, and in Katie's words, it was "'all about flowers"! The couple looked stunning, with Katie To View More >>
